The new Toyota 4Runner is a truck lover’s truck. Not afraid to get down and dirty and just as happy to take a bath in a mud puddle as a shower at the car wash. Salt Lake City new car buyers will appreciate this fifth-generation 4Runner and its propensity for off-road performance.
Unlike many of its other brand competitors, the 4Runner has remained all truck, not morphing into some unrecognizable ride that falls between categories. With body-on-frame construction, it looks tough and the interior control panel is laid out for easy reading and easy reach.
But it’s not all utilitarian. The new 4Runner, as dealers of Salt Lake City used cars can vouch, is a luxury truck, if there is such a thing. With leather and full-time all-wheel drive the Limited edition is even more than most truck owners expect.
The Trail trim 4Runner, priced at ,500 comes with practical water-resistant cloth seat coverings. But the adventure-friendly seats pale in comparison to the awesome driving features. The 4Runner Trail has a locking rear differential and the four-wheel drive is lever operated. A Multi-terrain Select knob allows the driver more precise control on rough or wet terrain by controlling the amount of wheel slippage during braking and acceleration to accommodate for the type of driving surface.
The CRAWL system in the Trail allows the vehicle to be set at a low speed so the driver can focus on steering through a rough patch of whatever lies on the trail ahead. Dealers of Salt Lake City new cars believe serious off-roaders will be impressed with this feature.
There’s also the A-TRAC active traction control system which works at low speeds to give the vehicle better grip and by directing the power to whichever wheel needs it the most. The 4Runner Trail comes with a 4.0-liter V6 and Hill-start assist is standard.
Best of all, this is a fun truck to drive and that’s straight from the mud-spattered lips of a true off-road enthusiast. A full 9.6 inches of ground clearance allow for just about any terrain and the 4Runner can wade through water more than 27 inches deep without issues.
Prefer rocks to water? No problem. Just opt for the ,750 Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System and you can uncouple the stabilizer bars for an easier ride over the really rough stuff. Even on the pavement, the 4Runner is a delight to drive. Those shopping for Salt Lake City used cars will want to consider this ride with its lack of tire and wind noise and the capability to tackle most any pile of dirt and boulders put in front of it.
